| An early 19th century French oil painting on paper, mounted on canvas. The upper horizon of the painting has embossed "Medalon Les Annonay De Ganson Freres". The painting in canvas was pierced by a hole in the area of the hair behind the ear. There was a very poor prior restoration, especially in some facial areas and on the shawl. The painting also had some very bad touch-ins on the background as well as very uneven varnishing which mottled the patina. | ||
| The same painting. Carla Wales, of Pound Ridge, reversed the damage to the facial and shawl areas (for London Joiners Ltd.). The former inept touch-ins to the background were reversed by W. Godziemba-Maliszewski of London Joiners Ltd., who also repatinated and established the varnish. | ||
