We work only on antique ivory, pre-ban; legal ownership papers required.
London Joiners Ltd. are expert conservators and restorers of antiques of virtue, fine art, and wooden musical instruments. We also repair related objects of virtue that require bone, ivory, or pearl inlay. Regarding musical instrument finishes, and repairs to antique finishes, the subject is discussed in the French Polishing & Other Finishes section on this site.
Fig. 1 – 2
The large circular Nigerian Ebony shape is overlaid with a guitar soundboard pattern of Moorish motif. Some pierce work and filing has begun, but it is in an early state of execution. When finished the circle will be cut back, a rabbit let in, and then inlayed to a guitar. Among the smaller pieces shown are ivory buttons, bone escutcheons, and sections of horn and pearl.
